2026 Kickoff Week: Starting Strong!

Tutoring Chicago’s 2026-27 program year launched on September 14th! Here are some highlights from kickoff week:

  • We opened two new tutoring locations through expanded partnerships – at Clarendon Park Community Center in Uptown (Chicago Park District) and the Union League Boys and Girls’ Barreto Club in Humboldt Park.
  • Nearly 80% of kickoff week students were returning students, a testament to our program’s retention, consistency, and long-term relationships.
  • 185 new students joined Tutoring Chicago, bringing new families into the program while maintaining a strong returning student base.
  • 425 kickoff week students were part of a “Perfect Match,” meaning they were paired with their returning tutor. That is almost half of all kickoff week students continuing an established tutoring relationship.

With 924 students beginning tutoring during kickoff week, we are well on our way to reaching a record 1,500 students before the year is out. Thank you for believing in our students and program, and for helping us to reach more students and communities than ever before!
