Family Support Resources from the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Partners

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is committed to ending hunger in Chicago by advancing solutions that address the root causes of hunger. They have compiled a list of resources for families looking for assistance with finding food, applying for benefits, accessing job trainings and access to elder/family support. For students and/or families looking for assistance, please see the list below:

  • Get Help – Get help finding food and accessing programs at one of over 800 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other community partners in the Chicagoland area. The following links all live under the Get Help page. Families can also contact us by phone during business hours (8 a.m – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday) at 773-247-3663. The Food Depository communicates in 200+ languages to ensure every neighbor has access to the food and resources they need.

    • Find Food and Additional Resources – Use our find food map to view hours, locations and information for all of our Cook County and Chicago food pantries, meal programs and distribution partners.

    • IL Food and Medical Benefits – Learn how to apply for SNAP/Link (food stamps), Summer EBT, and Medicaid and get answers to common questions on state and federal government assistance programs.

    • Job Training – Find additional job training and support services by other organizations we partner with.

    • Support for Families – Access to free diapers, healthy food and benefits supports.

    • Support for Older Adults – Access to free food, fresh produce, and help with Medicaid and other benefits to support healthy aging for older adults living on fixed incomes.

    • Nutritional Resources – use this link to search for recipes or by ingredients, cooking/preparation videos, learn about ingredients, meet community partners, and access healthy eating tips.
