Some achievements stop us in our tracks. Destiny’s is one of them.

Destiny was recently accepted to Stanford University on a full ride scholarship, an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and belief in herself. When staff congratulated her, her response was simple and deeply moving. All she hoped for was to make us proud.

She has.

Destiny’s journey with Tutoring Chicago spans more than seven years alongside her tutor, Martin. Over that time, their relationship has been built on consistency, trust, and unwavering support. Martin has walked with Destiny through challenges, milestones, and moments of self discovery, offering guidance not just academically, but as a steady presence who believed in her potential long before college acceptance letters arrived.

What makes Destiny’s story even more powerful is that she now gives back to the very community that supported her. Alongside being a student, Destiny is also a tutor at Tutoring Chicago. She shows up each week for her own student, bringing empathy, insight, and firsthand understanding of what it means to navigate school, pressure, and possibility. She embodies the full circle of this work, moving from being supported to supporting others with care and intention.

Martin’s role in Destiny’s growth cannot be overstated. His long term commitment and belief in Destiny helped create the space where confidence could grow, goals could sharpen, and dreams could feel attainable. Together, they represent what is possible when a student is met with consistency, encouragement, and high expectations rooted in care.

Destiny and Martin’s story is a reminder that success is rarely the result of a single moment. It is built over years of showing up, asking questions, trying again, and believing that the work matters.
